Source of Water in Brno, Czechia

Brno’s tap water comes mainly from two sources: groundwater captured at Březová nad Svitavou and surface water from the Vír Reservoir. Březová nad Svitavou supplies water from the Svitava River valley aquifer.

Water from the Vír system is treated at the Švařec water treatment plant before entering the regional network. The two sources are distributed through Brno’s water supply system and may be blended depending on operating conditions.
